The Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS) is the professional membership organization representing Illinois dentists, affiliated with the American Dental Association. Founded by dentists in Chicago in 1865, ISDS is one of the oldest state dental societies in the country.
ISDS's mission is "ensuring professional success of our members and optimizing the oral health of Illinoisans through education, legislation, and communication." ISDS is an IDFPR-approved continuing education sponsor, and CE offered by ISDS or its components is accepted toward Illinois license renewal.
Programs and advocacy
- Legislative advocacy — ISDS tracks current legislation affecting dentistry and operates DENT-IL-PAC, its political action committee.
- Annual Session & House of Delegates — ISDS's governing House of Delegates meets annually alongside its Annual Session continuing education conference.
- ISDS Foundation — funds community grant awards, scholarships, student table clinics, and a Dentists Support Program and Relief Fund for members in need.
- CE Library — monthly webinar series and dental auxiliary courses covering required topics such as coronal polishing, nitrous oxide administration, and sedation assistant monitoring.
